Fallout: New Vegas, PC – £17.45

Fallout: New Vegas, PC – £17.45 delivered

Registers on Steam.

Now, this one is particularly sneaky, and I’m only ~90% sure it will work. You might best off waiting til tomorrow (Thursday) to order it.

Here’s what you need to do:
1. Go grab yourself a 10% off code for Zavvi.
2. Add both New Vegas and Fallout 3 [Goatee Edition] to your basket. You’ll notice that Fallout 3 is actually currently out of stock, but you still get the £5 off New Vegas for ordering Fallout 3 at the same time.
3. Apply the coupon you got in stage one. The subtotal for New Vegas should now be £17.45.
4. Wait patiently until they have shipped New Vegas, then cancel Fallout 3.

As I said, I am only ~90% sure it will work, but based on previous Zavvi behaviour for handling cancelled items in multibuy discounts, you should get the New Vegas for £17.45. If not, you can easily return it for a full refund of whatever they do charge you.

Alternatively:
You can get £13 trade in for Fallout 3 [Goatee Edition] at Gamestation via CEX pricematch. The price for both is £29.10, so trading in Fallout 3 [Goatee Edition] makes the price of New Vegas effectively £16.20.

Hmm… this might be pushing it a bit.

I found an alternate solution that might be more to your tastes then.

So I just tried to do this, and Zavvi are “Experiencing problems”

      Bum.

I’ve got nothing saying Fallout 3 GOTY is out of stock. Expected delivery is 26th though, which I suppose indicates that. Just cancelled my previous order to do this – we’ll see if it sticks.

Also, does it still work if you cancel the thing immediately, or do you definitely have to wait for the first part to arrive?

    • Lewie Procter #

Yeah, the “Usually dispatched within 3 days” bit means it is not in stock right now, but they have stock on the way.

No, I don’t think you need to wait for them to ship New Vegas. You probably could try cancelling Fallout 3 straight away, and seeing what happens. I just think you’re more likely to get it at that price if you wait.

Fair enough. I’ll play it safe: don’t want to do it all again!

Has the first method actually worked for anyone? I both want New Vegas and am extremely poor.

  4. Meh, just ordered it from game.co.uk for £24.99 with a bonus promo code that gives you some goodies in the game (armour, stimpacks), still a good offer, thanks!

Do you not see any hypocrisy in throwing a fit over Zavvi’s coupon shenanigans and then abusing their ordering system?

    • Lewie Procter #

      Not at all.

Do you think I should ignore this loophole?

I’m not going to try and dictate what you should and shouldn’t post, I’m just saying there’s a moral issue here just like there is with Zavvi’s coupon stupidity. Dishonesty is not something reserved for companies. You’re openly calling what you did “abuse”, yet you’re going to pretend you have moral high ground?

This is comparable to going to a store, changing the price tag on a product and buying it for cheaper. Then, when someone calls you on it, going “well duh, they should have a system in place to prevent that if they don’t like it”.

I’m glad to see Zavvi called you on this, even if their own strategies are not any more honorable.

[Snip: we’ll have no pointless name calling here please – Lewie]

Thanks for you input, but I definitely disagree with you.

My obligation is to the fine readers of SavyGamer to show them the best deals, I have no obligation to the retailers.

Your comparison to changing price tags doesn’t really hold up in my opinion, I’ve not hacked anything, I’ve not done anything other than use coupons and promotions that they have emailed me, or that partners of theirs (Walkers) have publicly distributed. I’ve just used them in a way that their web site allowed me to use, but they did not expect people to use. It’s their job to enforce their terms and conditions, not mine.

Obviously they are totally entitled to cancel these, and indeed any, order if they want to. I’ve not ever forced them to sell anything at any price.

What’s hypocritical about it? This site is about saving money, the voucher things warns us that we’re not saving money, and the working, legal loophole does save us money. If it works. Loopholes are fair game, if there’s a system in place with rules that work in this way, then there is nothing wrong with using it that way. Companies have people in place to figure out what to sell at what price and to work out minimum turnover and profit margins, and then others to put these pricing strategies in place on their websites. They present these systems to the consumer to use, and if something like this works, then who are you to complain? Unless it’s your company, in which case, sort out your pricing if you don’t like it.

And I suppose, Anon, that labelling me as a 14 year old makes your arguement all the more moral. Strange how it doesn’t.

Good point. Try to be polite please.

I bow to your wisdom King Lewie.
