Direct2Drive are doing a thing where til the end of the year, when you buy a game from them, you have a one in five chance of getting that game for free. When combined with their price match offer, this is a potentially great offer. Even if you don’t like Direct2Drive, remember they sell lots of Steamworks games too.

Edit: Word on the street is that they have ran out of serials now, so people are still being charged, but not receiving serials. Presumably they’ll sort it out, they just need to phone up the guys at Ensemble and….

Direct2Drive are offering a price match guarantee against Gamestop.com, Gamersgate.com and Steam. If anything gets a discount from any of those three outlets, you can buy it from Direct2Drive, and they will give you store credit equivalent to the difference. Reasons people might want to do this:
If you don’t like the DRM of the Steam client, you can get games without it.
Presumably devs will be getting commission at full rate (although that is speculation).
You can avoid GamersGates somewhat fiddly standalone downloaders.

Not as good as when they dropped it to a fiver less than 2 months ago, or the £6.79 it was on Steam in August. Also, if you want all of the DLC, the GOATEE edition is cheaper.
