GOG are doing a sale
This is a changing all the time, so it’s a bit of a moving target. If you want to catch the best deals, probably best to check back regularly.

Yay, just in time to nick a copy of Arcanum. To the backlog it goes 🙁
Not gonna bother checking it this time. I remember cursing a lot at my screen due to timeouts and server crashes that caused me to “lose” a sale.
Last time they did a sale like this, their servers buckled under the pressure of people refreshing the page (with scripts) to grab the free games. GOG said it wasn’t possible, but a quick search on Google was enough to find working scripts.
Also, if you weren’t living practically next to their servers, you could expect pageloads of at least 10 seconds (that is, if you were lucky that the servers bothered to respond at all). And the constant timeouts on the checkout pages meant losing the chance to grab most games anyway.
It did get better after a day or 2, when the free games promo thing ended, and most people had already bought the games they wanted.
I have had no problems buying games this time and they handle free games differently, apparently you sometimes get the one you want to buy for nothing. Pages load quickly, everything’s fine and the prices are great. Really your loss if you stay away because of some troubles in the past.
Only really worthwhile if you’re not averse to large quantities of caffeine. 🙂
