Their support is atrocious. They often require ID (in both nonsensical and impractical ways) and even then, even if you verify yourself, your very next purchase can be “flagged by the security system” and you can be told that your old verification is no longer good enough. But don’t worry, it’s “all for your own safety”! The support whether via email or live chat is just dreadful and for the most part just reiterates the same bullsh*t as if it’s from a script.
Most key sites I’ve used have been fine, but stay the f*ck away from G2PLAY. Then again, they do issue refunds (at least for Paypal) quickly and without much issue, so it may be worth a try if you have the patience.
I had a an issue because I accidentally left a web browser proxy on when buying.
I had a few e-mails back and forth, they asked me to place an order without the proxy so they could verify the ip, I did that and got my key sent through.
I agree it’s more hassle than I’m used to, but got there in the end, worth it for the saving.
That’s not too bad. I’m talking personal identification verification. I sent them a council tax bill I dug up with all crucial information blurred out, it was accepted. The very next purchase I was told it wasn’t good enough anymore. Ugh.
G2Play is listed under the Shady category on this site. I’m guessing we should proceed with caution when buying anything from them?
I’ve not had anyone complain about problems with them, but purchasing from them probably constitutes breaching the uPlay user agreement.
Would you suggest I set up a second uPlay account to register this key to?
It’s up to you, really.
