SimCity, PC – £18.49

SimCity, PC – £18.49

Head to this page, and switch your Country of Residence to “India”.

Then head here, and buy SimCity for 1,499 Indie Rupees. Enter your billing address and Payment Information as usual, except pick India for Country.

After completing the purchase, change your Country of Residence back to United Kingdom, and download.

Some card issuers may charge a fee, and EA have banned Origin accounts for far lesser crimes than circumventing regional pricing discrimination.

If you buy this before the 18th of March, you will also get another EA game for free. It’s not currently know what game(s) will be available for free.

Still isn’t worth that price to deal with the awful DRM

    • Lewie Procter #

      Then don’t buy it.

    • dos #

for me it’s actually the price I would buy it for – but I have no credit card and think I would be too scared to loose my account

  2. Martin #

Perhaps, if you have other games on your origin account, it would be safer to make a second account before doing this, so you won’t lose access to those games also?

  3. roch #

should it show as 1,499 Indie Rupees from the second link?
for me it still shows as £44.99, or does that change when completing the purchase ?

    ta.

  4. Gary Howard #

When I click the second link, the url changes to the default en-GB url, and nothing is in Rupees, I’ve changed my country of residence. Despite the DRM, my best mate really wants me to buy this game so he can have a neighbour haha, so 18.49 is a bargain.

not working. still generates UK prices. i am doing something wrong. other than purchasing Simcity 😛

  6. Lewie Procter #

    Try it now.

  7. roch #

    worked for me,
It looked as if nothing happened after payment, no confirmation (email confirmation has just come through)
I’m downloading Simcity as i’m writing this 🙂

    cheers,
(i just hope i don’t lose it, or worse my whole account !?)

  8. Dowr #

    How was this exploit discovered?

  9. Silver #

Aaugh. That’s tempting. I really want to play SimCity as it’s a good game, just bad DRM and whatnot… and that’s a reasonable price. But I don’t want to risk my Origin account. :X And it does work now, too, went to checkout, stopped.

  10. Gary Howard #

Holy crap, it actually worked. It’s funny, it even said ‘Payment authorization failed’ after I pressed submit, but I still got an email from EA India afterwards. Despite the bullshit DRM, I’m still looking forward to sinking my time into it.

  11. Rare #

Just bought successfully, after checkout it refreshes the storefront as if nothing has happened which was a bit worrying, but a confirmation email came through after about 5 minutes. lets hope we don’t all get banned 🙂

  12. D.Socrates #

I hope no one does get banned, but even if I was interested in this game, I wouldn’t risk it. The price will come down soon enough. Probably around the time it’ll be possible to play the thing.

I will vouch for nextworld.in for simcity key. I got my for £19 on saturday morning. No DRM/server issues, and the game runs perfectly. If you bought early in the week then i dont envy you.

  14. tdog #

it’s changed to 2.499 rupies now

    • Lewie Procter #

Nope, that’s the Digital Deluxe edition.

  15. Bunny #

They are now reviewing orders, and it seems mine is being investigated. Will report how it turns out.

    • Bunny #

Currently downloading it at least. It will still apparently be reviewed within 48 hours.. Will report back if it gets denied.

      • Bunny #

Happy to Report Origin India has reviewed my order and confirmed it.

        • Thanks for this pal. I’m still a bit tentative over whether to go for it….

Word of warning for those who actually managed to buy SimCity via this deal, I’ve now got that ‘Account currently in use’ message on Origin, when I’m the only one that uses my own account. Just be wary, and I have no idea how to resolve this. I reset my password and can still log on, and I still get this message though, it worries me.

    • Do you still have this now?

      • Gary Howard #

Yes. Every time I start up Origin, that message pops up. I’ve changed my password and it still pops up. SimCity works at least, well, when the servers are not full. I might leave it for a couple of days and come back to it, if it still pops up, might have to get EA to fix it, unless you know a way around it. Cannot find the answer to this.

        • David #

Same thing here. I bought the game and now I’m getting this message every time I close and open Origin.

        • http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/300/7819479.page Looks like its not just you. Has this just started happening since you bought this game?? Only thing I can think of is that Origin thinks that you should be in India so gets confused when you log in in the US/UK?

          • David #

I changed back from India to UK as soon as I finished the order. My country of residence shows as the UK on my profile as well. I’ve been able to play the game with no problems at least.

    • MoonSpook #

I’ve been getting that intermittently on Origin lately, it’s a bug I think as I’ve not made any purchases or redeemed any serials on it since November. Did a quick Google, several others saying similar things.

  17. Supergrasser #

Just purchased and downloaded successfully, thank you for this!

  18. Tried it, it works. Downloading now.

  19. Has anyone managed to get in game after buying this?

    • Leo #

Yep, I got it a few hours ago and did the tutorial, no problems.

    • mmtt #

Yes, I have bought from Origin India and I got in the game.

I had an issue at launch but with the right dll it fixed and it’s now playable.

    • Bunny #

Yep. Works fine and if you just pick a server that isn’t full, there’s no queue crap or anything along those lines.

I still advice to use a new Origin account though.

  20. Miguel #

The game page isn’t available anymore… meh, I wanted it.

  21. DY357LX #

Can’t see it on their store page anymore. Is the second link supposed to take us directly to the product page?

  22. Woody #

I am in the states, had a bunch of deals from this site work before.

After clicking the first link and changing the country, if I go to the second link it says that the product is no longer available.

    Oh well, worth a shot.

  23. RingoD123 #

Its gone, theyve taken it down from Origin India, along with the digital deluxe edition, only the upgrade to digital deluxe and the 3 extra cities are up there now.

  24. Dale #

is this still working? I can’t seem to find Sim City for 1,499 Rupees

  25. Vlad #

It seems they have removed the game from the website in case people with an IP outside of India are trying to buy it from the India store. At least I can’t find it, neither through search nor the EA catalog, only the DLC and upgrade pack.

  26. Civi #

Can’t find it ont he store any more.
    Did they take it down?

    • de #

      we are too late…

  27. Gary Howard #

Just an update, my Origin account is fine now, it looked like it had been ‘hacked’ with that message I kept getting, but really it was just a bug I think. And yes, EA have noticed this and have taken it down. Silly buggers. http://gengame.net/2013/03/ea-removes-simcity-from-origin-store-in-india/

  28. foofly #

Aww… I was just about to do this. Oh well.

  29. Ian #

Just tried this using a proxy, got to the page but payment fails
