Great deals on this site but I don’t know how to tell whether a CD-Key site is trustworthy or not, I don’t want to risk having my Steam account banned. How do you make sure these companies are safe to buy from?
I’d been waiting for a good deal on XCom so I have already bought, which I am now regretting. They are “verifying my order” after which they might need to ask me for some more details.
A quick Google search reveals that the company my payment went to appear to be linked to gold farming and a search of reviews for the site reveals that they have been phishing. I’ll post what happens from here on but for now I recommend against buying.
Thanks for the reply. That sucks dude, I hope it works out in the end, I did read a few people saying they had problems confirming their ID but once confirmed it was fine. Having said that, a lot of the ‘reviews’ were from people just having posted that 1 review.
I think I’m going to resist these key sites entirely. Their prices are so tempting though!
It worked fine for me though, used Paypal as my payment method and within 2 hours I got my CD Key. The only nitpick I had during this transaction was the English in the order confirmation email could use some proofreading.
Also, I believe Louie mentioned before that he doesn’t post deals to sellers that he personally doesn’t trust.
I was put off by their payment options. Since they only offer ‘dubious’ options likepaypal, paysafe or some online transaction where they want me to ‘log in’ into my bank account from some other webfrontend.
No thanks!
Then Id rather wait for a safe deal…
Can anyone confirm if they’ve received their keys? Some of the reviews say that gameholds is a phishing site and doesn’t provide valid keys. Are all the links on savygamer to trusted and reliable sites?
Hi, can anyone confirm they’ve received their key and gameholds is a legitimate site? Have seen reviews saying it is a phishing site and doesn’t provide working keys. Does savygamer check that all the deals posted are from trustworthy sites? Normally great deals on savygamer just a bit concerned about this one and would like reassurance before purchasing.
gameholds.com/imprint – Isn’t “imprint” something German companies have to do by law? no information at all on this page apart from “Gameholds International Ltd.” which doesn’t even seem to exist or give any information as to what country they are based in?
Domain is registered in china (networksolutions.com/whois-search/gameholds.com) does “binjiangdonglu166yintangguoji 4-0211” sound like a real street in China though?
Someone mentioned in one of the other deals that their payment went to a “GLORY PROFIT INTERNATIONAL LIMITED”
The only “GLORY PROFIT INTERNATIONAL LIMITED” that I can find reference too is a disolved company that used to be registered in Hong Kong which was disolved in 2004 :/
The name Glory Profit seems to crop up on another “key site” called igx4u.com which also gives no contact details but a search of this company name “GLORY PROFIT INTERNATIONAL LLC” brings up an address in Hong Kong :-
Glory Profit International Limited
Room 1202,12/F., AT Tower, 180 Electric Road, North Point
Kowloon – Hong Kong
Took a while to get it done but I ordered from this site and as dodgey as it all seemed (They were asking me for some paypal details that got my back up a bit, nothing too sensitive. I think it’s because I used to a different email for their website than my paypal purchase) in the end it was fine. got both dark souls and xcom from there and both keys are working no problem =]
That said, I will be keeping an eye on my email accounts for the next few days just in case..

This to me is just a mailbox address, I highly doubt there is anyone there.
So all in all this site has some German/Chinese link but none of it is very clear at all.
I guess if you get your game then great but I worry about where you would go should something go wrong?
Don’t forget, Paypal doesn’t cover you for digital purchases!

My purchase has come through and is registered, but given all of the above I won’t be ordering from them again.
out of stock now too!
