Going to wait and see if Trenched ever comes to PC be the perfect time to pick all these up then

Got Psychonauts and CQ. Waiting for the inevitable 50%-75% sale to get stacked.

No idea about Stacked, but after buying Psychonauts and CQ, i played the former. It is so bad that I’ve avoided CQ. You can read my review here:

Never met someone who didn’t love Psychonauts before. Interesting to get another perspective on it.

When you say ‘review’ you mean “near unintelligible and highly subjective character-assassination” don’t you?

Tips: your points system is dumb – the other bits are dumber…

You’re even immune to the idea that it’s a 7-year-old game it seems – this is a fairly major failing if you’re going to ‘review’ things…

I know it’s old, that’s why I didnt deduct points for any differences caused by changes in technology.
The points system works because then I can accurately gauge what I think of the game as a whole, instead of going on a euphoric/hateful bender and giving it a straight-up 10 or a 0. FUN FACT: I only mentioned characters ONCE.
One thing I will admit to, is that I set the review out in a layered and easy-to-read format, which was lost when I completed the review. Sorry about that.

It’s fine to have a different opinion to me, just don’t call my opinion wrong, especially when I have proved my points in my review, none of which you have countered.

Oh a metacritic troll review. Helpful

      • Taco #

A troll review? I don’t put this much effort into my trolling :p
And if I was going to troll anywhere, it wouldnt be here. This is a great site, and I wouldn’t want to do anything to worsen it, only to make people aware of some games that, in my opinion, aren’t even worth sale price.

        • In all fairness, Taco, your points system is just as arbitrary as giving it a 10 or a 0. The game being original gets a plus three and then gets a minus 3 for being EXTREMELY REPETITIVE – how can there be a scale for each item that is independent of the other yet is measured equally in the final tally? Surely, if you wish to break it down in such a way, you can only list positives and negatives; each item yielding either a +1 or a -1. (Also, -2 for “foreseeable” back tracking? Really? A review is an opinion based on facts, not what you think might happen)

Beyond that, you offer no real insight into the game which is a failing of the medium (i.e. lack of space) more than your lack of refinement (don’t get me wrong though, your review does lack refinement). And on top of that, you only played the game for 94 minutes. Were you a professional writing, reviewing games for a living, your opinion on the matter would be considered unprintable. That’s not to say you can’t form an opinion in that time, just not one that offers your the right to pen a review of the game and then advertise said review on this site.

Like The Russian Bear above, I’ve not met anyone who’s played Psychonauts and not loved it and am under no illusions that such a person could not exist, however, I don’t think your review is as well written and water-tight as you believe it to be. Were you and I sat in the same room right now then I’d happily debate the merits and demerits of the game, I’m not looking to initiate such a thing over the internet; which is why I’ve not tried to counter the points you’ve made about the game with my opinion of the game, I’ve merely tried to highlight how redundant your review is in the absolute hope that you’ll not link to it on any other site or link to any other of your reviews that suffer the same fallacies for another game here in the future.

Fair play, at least you bothered to read the review. The points system is based on how I feel about it, and how strongly i feel gets more points. I couldn’t stand the game long enough to do much backtracking, but it was obvious. I know the points system is arbitrary, but I don’t understand how it’s any different to arbitrarily rating a game based on an overall feel. In that respect, almost no game is worthy of a 10, yet so many games recieve reviews to that effect. The points are ordered as to how i feel they impact my enjoyment, 1 for not much, and 3 for significantly. A game can have both a significant impact for originality and camera control. Though my review is far from watertight, and having not played as much as some other reviewers, it does gives the readers more insight as to what I think other than “wooh00!!1! 7his R0x!”.

All things considered, if the review was positive, I’d get a bunch of replies telling me how right I am. Just because my review is controversial, that doesn’t make it wrong. I could probably include more depth to this, but judging by the length of your replies, you clearly like Psychonauts more than I hate it

If anyone wants to nitpick at Psychonauts one could say it’s a bit repetitive and sometimes the camera can annoy you in certain situations when you’re trying to do a hard jump.

However the only repetitive part is the combat, you’re limited to just one or two real types of attacks, bosses are better and require you to use more skills.
