Alright, maybe this is the wrong place but I try anyway.
Let me start of by saying I am German and live in Germany. Hello Everybody. 🙂
My girlfriend is studying at Warwick University right now and I’ll spend new year’s eve with her and one week after that. I’ve been to Coventry/Warwickshire/Birmingham a couple of times when I visited her and went to different pc game stores. I like that there are a lot of them all over the play (unlike Germany).
Anyway. I have been a savygamer reader for… I don’t know, way more than a year and I must say the prices in the actual stores seem to be well above the prices that are posted here on Lewie’s blog. Is that true or just a misconception on my side? Is it cheaper to order games instead of buying them in the city shop (which would not make sense to me but maybe that is the case)?
Also, while I am there I want to buy Dead Island for me and a couple of friends. Maybe I’ll also get RAGE for myself. How would you fellow gamers and experienced UK customers go at that if I want to pay least?
All this asking might sound silly to you but I am a real deal hunter here in Germany and never pay more than just a couple of Euros (max. 7€) for a game.
Yes the in store price for places like Game never matches the web price, it is always a few pounds more expensive in my experience. The problem also is the actual physical shops don’t have a good selection of PC games anymore so you would probably be best to order the games to your girlfriends address before you leave and pick them up when you get there, if you want them for Christmas then you should order fast as the post is slow at this time of year.
Sometimes you might find a PC bargain in a supermarket like ASDA, Morrissons etc but these will be hit and miss so I wouldn’t go especially for a game, its more likely that you would see something while shopping.
So in a nutshell buying online is 9 times out of 10 cheaper with a wider range of choices of products and places to purchase from.

Is there an edit function? Those typos up there annoy me. 🙂

Thanks for the input! I think I’ll just order my games of interest based on the price. I’ll have the games shipped to my gf’s place then.
