Yet still not worth it. Way to go, Ubisoft.

Yep – I was thinking about it until I remembered the always on DRM and realised that even at this price, it was too much. Same happened with Splinter Cell the other day. Congrats to Ubisoft for alienating potential customers.

I think you two should reconsider. I bought this game for a lot more and thoroughly enjoyed it and the DRM really doesn’get in the way unless of course you dont have access to internet. Who doesn’t have access to internet these days?

As far as i know, they removed the always on DRM back in january, and now it only requires an online authentication at launch (yeah, bothersome, but not as bad as the always on stuff). Something similar to how Starcraft II works.

Anyway, don’t quote me on this. I bit, i’ll report back if/when i get around to install and try it.

I heard something about that. But it’s still extreme DRM and should not be condoned just because once upon a time it was worse than this. I would not have accepted this before the always online DRM came about and I don’t now.

I have heard other reports that it is actually quite good, but I have too many other good games to play (and buy) to reward a company with such a backward-looking, legitimate-customer-punishing DRM attitude.

I couldn’t have put it better.

…Including the bit about the backlog. ¬ ¬

It’s not that I don’t have access to the internet but I refuse to buy it because my internet connection is so unreliable. Because of the position my router is in (and it can’t be moved) my connection dies every time that someone decides to close a door between me and the router so having the game effectively crash every time that happens is a complete deal breaker.

Damn, I’d have saved a quid if I’d waited a day. *sigh*

And I’ve also heard from reliable sources that they’ve patched out the “Thou shalt always be online” portion of the DRM.

They simply made it “Thou shalt always be online when you launch the game”, which I still refuse to have any part of in a completely single-player game.
