Medieval II: Total War [Gold Edition], Condemned: Criminal Origins, Alpha Protocol & The Club, PC – Free
Register with Dixon’s game download service and pick “SEGA Pack 1” as your free download.
Cheers Mamac for the heads up.
Not sure if any of these register on Steam, let me know.

Well. I now officially own 3 copies of Medieval 2 Total War. And two of them were free!
Awesome deal. 😀
Get this error even though I put in my date of birth (over 18)
To download the pack you selected you must be 18 or older. Unfortunately it has not been possible to verify your age with our identity verification partner (currently 192.com). If you are 18 or older, please make sure that your user information on the “My account” page is correct.
Alternatively you can select the other pack (without an age rating) and download those games instead.
If you’re not on the electoral roll, they won’t let you be over 18, sorry.
Even though i’ve registered and my date of birth is correct, it’s still saying it couldn’t verify me being over 18? Anyone else getting this problem?
I’m also getting the under 18 error too
same here – need to register a card maybe? How is everyone else managing it?
Search for yourself on 192.com – Make sure you put whatever address you’re registered at there. I was giving my uni address so Dixons couldn’t find me. It’s a bit scary though that all our details are simply there on 192.com….especially after the PSN debacle…
you need an email address that can veriy your age on 192.com
So real name and address required by the look of things
It didn’t like me either as I’m not listed on 192.com – used my fathers details (different name address, phone number) and it let me “purchase” the games.
Likewise.
Because we are not UK citizens, it seems.
I didn’t get any joy even with a real name and address. It’s slightly reassuring that there’s still information that *some* bits of the internet don’t know.
And now we know not to bother wasting time with Dixons’ download service.
Neither of the codes for Medieval II or The Club registered in Steam
It seems like the age verification only woks for people, located in the UK.
Too bad, Alpha Protocol and Medieval 2 would’ve been great…
Anyone know a way around the age restrictions for those not living in the UK?
Nope, it’s all based on an external website (192.com) and there’s no way to game that.
I don’t get why it isn’t working my address and age are right, what has 192.com got to do with it?
Yeah, it would have been nice to try, but I don’t even live in the UK. Also I told it I don’t but apparently it still wants to check 192.com anyway, despite it being a UK phone directory or something.
So I’m stuck with the age verification error. great. And now how do I delete this thing?
Worked a treat, cheers!
Also, you can grab the other pack by just signing up again with a different name/email address.
192.com is a site that collates the uk polling register data (name, age, address) and makes it searchable (for a fee) by anyone. If (like me) you opt out of being on such databases when the government ask for your information then you wont be on 192, nor will you if you live outside the UK.
So, in conclusion, Dixons download service is failing in 5…4…3…
That would be the extended register I guess. That explains why 192.com thinks I’m between 31-39. Odd that that should make Dixons think I’m old enough.
Seems to work fine for me, despite my name not showing up on 192.com for some reason. This is a ridiculously good offer, cheers Lewie! Downloading Alpha Protocol now.
Fuck 192.com. They get buy info off the electoral register then sell it onto anyone that wants it (individuals can search for you and buy your address). It’s opt out only (by selecting a small checkbox on your electoral registration form – which I missed). I told them to go fuck themselves a while back once I worked out what was going on (and also opted out). I also complained to my local councilers about the practice.
As I’m opted out I can’t download any 18 + games from the Dixons download service. What absolute cretins. Why would they launch a new online service and then restrict their potential customers in such a massive way? Plenty of people opt out of stuff like 192.com, and with very good reason!
A pathetic last ditch effort from Dixons to enter the digital age now their bricks and mortar stores are all going under. Total Fail.
Woah there! Do you really want to miss out on such classics as ‘Garden Simulator’ and ‘UK Truck Simulator’? Are you MAD? I defy you to find a better simulated watering can.
Also I definitely opted out, and it works fine for me. No idea what’s going on there.
Is there anyway to get this working? I really want to have Condemned: Criminal Origins 🙁
I had to check 192.com to see where I was registered as living. Turns out it was my old address. Changed my address and I could Download the pack.
They DON’T register on Steam BTW.
Make sure when filling your details in you put your house number in the relevant field but not in the address. A couple of people I work with didnt and kept getting errors.
Worked fine for 4 people here! Want to get home and try Alpha Protocol, wanted to try that for ages.
This…
Idiot account form makes no sense.
Ive tried all combos of my own and my parents addresses and all are shown on the public 192.com search yet still it refuses.
What a terrible terrible service.
Worked fine for me too, after I realized they’d reversed the field order… QA fail.
I’m not getting the age error, but it says that my IP address is not from the UK! Wtf?
They check first for your ip, then for the age.
I got it with the help of a friend in the uk, what baffles me is the method the download is operating.
You download a single exe for each game you want to download, not realy a modern approach but i could live with that. This downloader is interesting though. No pause button, no option to throttle the speed it uses and no way to resume a download.
Look out Steam, Dixons is comming!
Not only that, but the entire process is just performed by a really horribly-written bittorrent client. So your outgoing bandwidth gets utterly destroyed while it runs as well. What a horrible, horrible waste of time that was.
Anyone fancy printing up a few instructions as to how one who finds oneself outside Britain might go about convincing the IP trace otherwise?
