Tempted to grab this pack on the basis of Assassin’s Creed alone, are the other games any good?

I only really played Far Cry 2, and didn’t like it.

Alright, ta, I’ll think about it.

I played Far Cry 2 and I can say that is very underrated…
Despite that, just for AC alone is worth it.

Bound In Blood is fun, and better than the first Call Of Juarez.

I wouldn’t just for AC1. AC1 is a repetitive slog and was massively disappointing. The only thing it truly had going for it (and I loved it for it) was the pure potential and the few moments where it was great. But AC2 and Brotherhood are out now, so there’s no need at all to play AC1. AC2 is twice as long and a million times better. It realises the potential that AC1 set out.

Basically, if you’re buying it for AC1, I’d just get AC2 instead.

Far Cry 2 is like marmite, you either love it or hate it. If you can overlook the horrible jarring game-breaking moments you can just wallow in the immersion. It has moments of pure brilliance and amazingness but these moments are few and far between in between slogs of endless driving. Which is sort of loved. But I can imagine lots of people would hate it.

      Vegas 2 is great.

  2. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is really quite fun – as a fan of the real Rainbow Six games (not the watered down console affairs) I was most surprised to find how enjoyable the multiplayer is and the Terrorist Hunt modes. The single-player mode is an enjoyable romp, too.

Far Cry 2 I hated first time I played it – but going back to it after the recent Steam sale, I’ve found it much more fun – just make sure you play in Hard mode as the lower difficulties expose the rather honky mechanics of the enemy respawning.

Bound in Blood is mostly average, and I can’t think of anything other to say about it.

Assassin’s Creed is repetitive to the highest degree. You’ll slog through the overly long open section where they teach you the core gameplay elements. Enjoy the first city immensely and then realise the second city is identical, and the third, oh and the fourth…..

I’m going to go against all the recommendations for Far Cry 2.

Avoid it like the plague. It is one of the worst games Ubisoft has ever managed to put out, it is nothing like the Crytek original, and they pretty much messed it up in ever way possible (except for graphics I guess, which are the least relevant really).

I have no idea how it managed an 85 on MC (Benjamins most likely), but the user score on there at least tells it like it is.

Endless tedium and frustration abound. You have been warned.

As Jon suggested, Far Cry 2 is an utter marmite of a game. Do you love the first Far Cry? Then you’ll probably hate it. But then again there are many people who utterly detest the original. It’s a very different FPS than any other, and for that I recommend it. It has some flaws, like the fact that everyone’s out to get you and enemy camps respawn far too quickly, but I completely loved it – and I loved Far Cry and Crysis too.

Assassin’s Creed is weaker than the sequel, but it is still quite good fun and a great experiment. If you’ve not heard anything about it you might love it too.

Call of Juarez is flawed, but I still enjoyed it. The storyline’s great at the least. Vegas is supposed to be good too.

The pack’s definitely worth it if you don’t own of these games.
