The Hut response: A deafening silence
I have contacted The Hut multiple times regarding their dishonest use of coupons, and whilst they were initially happy to answer my questions, once they realised the nature of what I was wanting to ask them, they ended all communications with me. Perhaps they will get back to me in the future, but I doubt it. If they do I will let you know. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion about what their silence means.
I’m not quite sure how to respond to this. I’m reluctant to stop linking to their deals, particularly when they do have genuine discounts. I think I will just keep an extra close eye on them, and add a disclaimer to any posts for them that uses coupons.
I’m going away tomorrow (more on that later), but I’ll try to speak to trading standards to see what they have to say about it when I get back.

Maybe you should add an extra warning to each post about The Hut deals whenever you post one. At least that way, it will remind all your followers everytime you post a Hut offer.

How can silence be deafening?

Have you ever seen a really bad comedian?

oxymoron to add emphasis

It’s deafening, ’cause you can’t hear anything. Kinda logical, don’t you think?
MacQ #
It was an expected reaction. If you can even call it that.

Did you report them to the Office of Fair Trading?
To quote Rei Onryou from the previous thread on this:
“That isn’t a “sale” or special offer, it’s misrepresenting of their prices. Those who know of the vouchers, get to buy at normal price, while those who don’t spend more than normal.”

Awesome, I got quoted.
On topic: Follow Nixon’s methodology and kick their asses!

Good job looking into this; I’d be interested what Trading Standards have to offer!
(They also still haven’t sent me Borderlands…tut tut putting up products they can’t supply!)
