Age of Empires 3, PC – 10p
Age of Empires 3, PC – 10p/10 MS Points
Edit: Word on the street is that they have ran out of serials now, so people are still being charged, but not receiving serials. Presumably they’ll sort it out, they just need to phone up the guys at Ensemble and….
Edit2: If you get told “No Key Assigned” then email them at GFWLSR@hotmail.com and hassle them to sort you out.

Is this the last day or are they keeping this going. Any idea Lewie?
I think this is the last of the 7 daily deals, so all they are going to have now are weekly deals.
At 10p I may as well. I mean, its not quite at the level where I wouldn’t bend down to pick it up if I dropped it, but if it rolled upned the vending machine in the process I wouldn’t faff about with a ruler unless it meant I was 10p short for a ‘Double Decker.’
Man, not available in Ireland, apparently. What a pain in the ass.
because your country is going into meltdown.
Still comes up ast 27.49 for me in the basket, and then to checkout.
:/
“Please, please, please use our service! Here, have a game for practically free!”
Except you can’t use paypal or a debit card :/
You can use Visa debit cards, despite it saying Credit card as you go through the checkout, I just did (and have done so before).
But yeah, it’s a shame they don’t support more card types or Paypal. I skipped a good deal they had a while ago because I only had a Maestro card back then =[
At least you don’t have to buy Microsoft StupidImaginaryCurrencyDesignedToPreventYouKnowingHowMuchYou’veSpent to get it.
Although for people who have some Microsoft Funny Money left over from 360 transactions, this game is effectively free.
Not effectively free. Effectively 10 MS Points.
Whenever I sign in it takes me to the US page.
Oh, god, whenever I see “Age of Empires” now I can only think of how Microsoft and Robot are raping the franchise with that POS Age of Empiresville Online 🙁
I give up… it’s not even available in Portugal. Wankers.
I picked up this great bargain and remembered the sole reason why I despise GFWL.
The download speeds are atrocious.
Seriously, 15 minutes since I started the download and it is still “Calculating Download Size…”
I guess it’s also because their servers are busy since lots of people will be buying this, but I kinda thought that the point of this week of sales was to show they’ve improved and can handle such traffic. I guess not.
Whilst I don’t wish to defend GFWL that much, as it is still hateful, I found it had downloaded and installed in only 6 minutes.
But it wouldn’t let me paste the cd key into the bit that asked for it. So it still sucks! Ish. A bit.
Mine has progressed to “Downloading 0KB of 2.75GB – 0.00%”
Been like that for a little while now…
So, it turns out that if you live in Ireland and try to buy the game via the website, you’ll be told your region is not supported.
But, if you download and install the Games For Windows Marketplace standalone client and log in with the same details, you can successfully buy the game that way.
What the hell, Microsoft?
Imperial Creed, thank you so much!! That worked for me as well!
Also, FYI, this is the Complete Edition of the game, not just the base game! 🙂
No worries mate.
Interesting that you have to add it to your shopping cart before you see the discounted price. Well played microsnot.
Thanks. Less-than-brilliant website, but amazing deal.
Incidentally, for anyone struggling to find the serial code, it’s here: http://i.imgur.com/rCT76.png
Wow, I’ve finally found a reason to like GFWL. Not this game in particular although I’m not saying no a 10p but the fact they seem to only region check by bank details so I can buy it with my UK card even though I’m currently in Sweden. I wish all services were so considerate of the needs of traveling customers.
I live in Poland and can see the deal in GFWL client with proper price but whenever I try to add it to the basket it tells me that i need Xbox GOLD status to use that deal. WTF Microsoft?
Visa is different to Visa Electron isn’t it?
Wow this is awesome better than any steam offer ever!
Better than when Steam gave Portal away for free? Or when Steam gave HL2:DM away for free?
Amen and well said.
I may as well just say this and get it out.
I didn’t buy it, not even for 10P, and here’s why.
At 10P, why not just give it away? They are not possibly making anything on it, why not get people to install the client by giving it away for free.
It may seem like I’m a scrounger not willing to pay 10P for a game, but what kind of scroungers are they that they sell it for that price? It can barely cover the transaction cost.
I’ve actually bought several recommendations from Savy gamer in the last month, especially the EA deal that was going. Battlefield 2 complete collection, Mass Effect 2 and Crysis 2 pre-order.
When GTA 2 was barely 5 years old they released it for free.
I’m not saying that devs should or have to give things away for free, but at 10P who is making any money out of it at all? They’d have got more people onto their service giving it away, like Valve did with Portal and HL2DM.
They’d have done better to say “And day Seven, Age of Empires 3 for free.” and get people onboard
/rant
Steam is still giving it for free:
http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/
http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/
The nvidia offer was tested today and still works, not sure about the ATI one.
On the topic of GFW, anyone tried to order from one of the countries not supported by xbox live?
It seems to require an xbox live account which does not let me enter the real country I live in.
But then they wouldn’t have got all those lovely new credit card details. Or got people into the habit/idea of buying PC games with MS Points.
Steam gave me left 4 dead 2 for free when i was banned from VAC with modernwarfare 2 for no reason (a lot of people was vac banned without reason at this moment)
And steam is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than gfwl, microsoft don’t have any chance against valve.
But it’s a great offer, bought it even if i have to reinstall their ugly interface.
You can just uninstall the client once you’ve downloaded Age of Empires 3 anyway.
As far as I know.
There’s no doubt that despite the terrible service that comes with Game For Winarrrrghhh, only being 10p makes up for it.
The only way it could really be not worth the 10p is if they then didn’t allow you to download it.
I can’t buy it either here from Spain, “unsupported region” crap in the webplace. I downloaded and installed the GfW client but the game is nowhere to be there, so it looks like M$ is pushing me hard to uninstall and forget about this PoS GfW is.
Is there any way to buy this for a friend who doesn’t have a visa debit?
Is anyone else having problems finding the cd-key. I know where it should be in the download games tab it just says it hasn’t been assigned. Wonder if its another civ 5 problem and they ran out of keys.
From the games for windows forums
“Update #2:
Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click ‘View Game Keys’ for the game you should be assigned one.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the game.”
sweet, thanks MaxNormal
Hotmail? What legitimate organisation uses a hotmail account? Oh, Microsoft. Never mind.
I did find that quite odd. That address could be anyone.
