Let me know what you want to buy this Christmas
We’re fast entering the Christmas buying season. All the retailers will be discounting different game related things over the next two months in the run up to Christmas morning, and as always I’ll be aiming to keep track of everything worth your attention.
Are there any items you’ve got on your Christmas list that you’d like me to pay particular attention to? I try to cover everything I can, but this is your chance to direct my gaze toward whatever you’re after.
Let me know in the comments, and I’ll compile a retail hitlist. Include details like platform, and if you have a rough budget.

- The RPS Bargain Bucket: Tides of Time | Rock, Paper, Shotgun - [...] checking SavyGamer for all the cheap games, all the time. I’m even helping you save on your Christmas shopping…
Rock Band 3, if you could. I’m looking for the new drums and possibly a pro guitar if it comes up cheap enough.
Any particular platform?
Edit: I edited the post to include that question.
360. I’ve looked around, and shopto still seems to be the cheapest for this stuff at the moment. A good £15 off most pieces of kit compared to most other places.
I want Rock band 3 too (Xbox 360) preferablely with the keyboard. Also,
– Sonic Colours (Wii)
– Fallout New Vegas (Xbox 360)
– Kirbys Epic Yarn (Wii)
– Donkey Kong Country (Wii)
– Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)
And finally Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (PS3/360)

£94.85 for Game+Keyboard is the best I’ve found.
I wouldn’t mind the same, but for PS3 please.
LittleBigPlanet 2 (special edition) along with PS move standalone controller and nav controller was the original plan. But as LBP2 has got delayed until next year those plans are shelved, hopefully Move will be in the post christmas fire sale of overstocks.
Alternatively the only other game that has my attention for Christmas (that I won’t have already bought) is NFS: Hot Pursuit on 360.
The Sword of the Stars expansion packs. They all seem to be about 3 times as much as the original game.
Also Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising and especially Starcraft 2. SC2 will go down smooth when I build my new PC shortly after Christmas.
I realise most of those are pretty old, and probably won’t get much better discounts than they have recently, but I’m still interested.
I’ll second Chaos Rising. Cheapest at the moment is ~£10 (actually £9 if you do the zavvi 10% off thing), but I bought the original campaign around December last for £5 and was hoping for a deal that good again.
This was direct from the THQ shop; I imagine they might do something similar as it gets closer to the release of the next part…
cheap pc games that register on steam.
Indeedy.
Also Fallout new vegas. 😀
Agreed. Also, cheap digital downloads.
When I want cheap, I want it now.
Maybe any good deals on getting cheaper consoles for those demanding kids, nieces & nephews such as the Wii or Playstation 3 or Xbox.
Singularity on PC
Red Dead Redemption and Enslaved on PS3
would be awesome if there were some good deals on these thanks
If you can wait a bit I’m sure that roxkstar will put out a GOTY edition w/ the DLCs
Didn’t they already announce that?
I’d love to see a cheap Metroid: Other M and Goldeneye for the wii.
Oh and Classic controller / Classic Controller Pro’s would be lovely
Any recent (or bargainous) collectors editions for 360 or Wii. I usually keep my eye out but you guys probably check a lot more sites than me.
Cheep PC downloads, and also PC Dragon Age.
Enslaved and Castlevania (360 and PS3, respectively)
I’d like to see these bad boys cheap for christmas.
Cheap PS3s perhaps?
I’ve been considering getting one of the big black beasties for a while now, though not going to spend more than I absolutely have to.
Also, usual fare of some PC games wouldn’t go amiss either.
Fallout New Vegas (PC). Also, anything for Windows Phone 7s. Ta.
Oh, and maybe some 360 slim bundles?
I would super duper appreciate Enslaved and Lords of Shadow, both for 360, if you could, cheers 🙂
Hmmm, Goldeneye Wii, Dragon Quest 9 DS, maybe Dead Rising 2 PC.
Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition [PC]
Splinter Cell Trilogy: HD Collection [PS3]
Maybe Super Meatboy on PC but I doubt I’ll be able to resist buying it on 360.
with the cheap points from the hut, and 800 free points for spending 2400 this month, the xbla version is a better deal.
Yeah my points arrived today but I think I’d prefer to have it on PC. I’d also prefer to play it right now though so 360 will probably win out. Seeing all the journos I follow tweeting about SMB is the first time I’ve envied game journalists since I found out how little they earn.
it is pretty damn good.
Dear Savy Claus,
I’d like:
No More Heroes 2 for the Wii,
Civ 5 for the PC
Puzzle Quest 2 for the PC
Dead Rising 2 for the PC ( I saw you did a deal on this, but can’t find it now?)
Oh, and some big ol’ hard drives too!
me two fwont teef!
Also, PC games. RPGs and FPSs for preference. A side of RTSs if you’ve the time. And any other TLAs you can fit in, really. So, yeah: PC games. Consoles, schmonsoles.
A PS3 that works!
My old 60GB died at 2 years and 11 months of ownership and wasn’t even being used that hard at the time of it’s death, when I went to switch it on and it disagreed with the command. Been looking for a good deal that’ll agree with my finances. I’m not fussed about owning move or it’s peripherals either.
Borderlands GotY and Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition please (both for PC).
Damn tempted to snap up that Zavvi Fallout 3 & New Vegas deal, but I also realise pre-ordering is a mug’s game these days, especially for PC games.
Also, NBA Jam for 360, if it gets a UK release that is.
Recettear! I couldn’t justify $20 for it, but if it drops by pretty much any amount I’ll go for it. Also winter indie bundles! The summer ones seemed to have done pretty well, so maybe some people will gather ’round and do winter ones.
Hmmm, I think my list probably consists of:
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Disney Epic Mickey
Guild Wars 2
Super Mario All Stars [The Wii 25th anniversary edition thing]
Actually, does anyone know if they’ve announced the Collector’s Edition for Epic Mickey in the UK yet?
I should probably check the DS release list, as I’m sure I must be missing something. Although I’ve just got Last Window, which is ace, but clearly even the online retailers are being clever and realised its loyal fanbase, so the f*ckers aren’t discounting it much.
Anyway, what’s on your shopping list, Lewie?
I need a GPU cooler, mine has been overheating a bit, and new mouse I think. Possibly a game or two, but nothing specific on my mind yet, I’ll wait and see what the discounts are like.
Are you getting New Vegas? I still can’t make up my mind between getting the 360 version now, and getting the inevitable GOTY version for the PC later.
Yes! Already preordered it for PC.
Time Crisis: Razing Storm would be nice sub £30, oh yeah and a gun attachment for the move!
PS3s in general. I’m looking to buy one and getting one for cheap is obviously preferable. Although I expect they’ll be cheaper after christmas. I can wait.
And Medal of Honor & Black Ops on 360. Although I doubt they’ll be cheap anytime soon.
All I ask from you is keep up the good work. I’m mostly waiting for the steam xmas sale to happen.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Darksiders, PC version. 😛
Or any other great PC title.
Well, this is horribly specific, but…
Brink (preordered, I guess), on Steam, at $40 or less. If you can do that, I shall name my firstborn after you! Even if it’s a girl…
I’m looking out for a PC version of Singularity. I hear Activision basically sabotaged poor Raven by ordering a woefully low manufacture run of it – almost no shops got any stock, those that did got very little. It’s holding a ridiculously high price almost across the board, and only the least reputation sites are even nearing the 20-25 mark.
I’d love to get my hands on it for 10-20 by the january sales O.O
I have two games that I really need to catch up on and they are mass effect (1) and dawn of war 2.
The list here is huge so I am not expecting much, but, two games for the PS3
NHL 11 and PES 2011.
Fable 3 and enslaved for the xbox please. Haven’t had much luck looking for a deal myself 🙁
World of warcraft Cataclysm please.
Cataclysm and Fable 3 my good man 🙂
My x360 hitlist:
– Alan Wake
– Super Street Fighter 4
– Mass Effect 1 & 2
– Batman Arkham Asylum
– Fable 3
– COD Black Ops
007: Goldeneye (Wii) please!
The cheapest I could find is £30 from GAME.
A Wii based band in a box type thing. Doesn’t matter which one as long as it’s on the Wii. Cousins are desperate for one but they’re only really old enough for Lego Rock Band. They just need the kit to get them started.
Thank you 🙂
