I just tried to pay with this via Paypal and it said my region wasn’t permitted, despite my region being the UK which is shown on the item page. I don’t know what or why, but it worked with my proper card details!

Can one get just the code and pop it into Origin client or does one have to deal with the Impulse client?

Yes you can. I just bought it and put it straight into Origin.
Cool, thanks a bunch!
