Xbox Live Gold – £1 per month

Xbox Live Gold – £1 per month

Just buy one month at a time, eventually it’ll tell you ‘This action cannot be performed at this time’. Use paypal if you have any trouble.

Thanks to Wild Bill who points out that switching browsers, computer or clearing the cache after you get that error can allow you to get more months. He also points out that you’ll need to turn auto-renewal off via Profile -> My Money so you don’t get a surprise bill in the future.

Do you know if this will be added onto the end of my current 12 month, or is it a silver only deal?

It adds them on, I already had Gold too.

Done, got 4 extra months out of it. cheers.

Worked for me, I added 4 months to my gold subscription before it started erroring 🙂

Sweet. I got 3 months for AU$3 in total, here in Australia. After that I got the ‘This action cannot be performed at this time’ error. As far as I can tell it will extend your gold membership by one month each time you do it.

So uh, what can I do now that I’m a Gold member?

I found that switching browsers once you get the error message allows you to carry on buying more (I’d of thought perhaps that clearing your browser’s cookies might also work)

This does seem to set you up for autorenewal once the cheap months have ended. However you can cancel this by logging into paypal and going to Profile -> My Money, and update your preapproved payments

I switched to my paypal account after the 4 month block shenanigans and got a full year through that. Decided to stop there as I don’t want to be greedy

Sweet – added three months with card and two months with Paypal.

I couldn’t work it out at first, but after I went and signed in at Xbox.com first, it was all good.

Just purchased 5 extra months with this. I didn’t bother getting any more.

Got 5 months on card until the error kicked in, then an extra couple with Paypal. Could probably go on but feels a bit harsh now. Damn my morality!

This does sign you up for auto-renewal. As far as I can tell the only way to cancel if you used a credit card is to ring XBox customer support. If anyone knows another way I’d love to hear it. Still, 4 months for £4 is well worth the 10 minute phone call to cancel the subscription in a few months.

Unfortunately calling them up is the only way to cancel auto-renewal. It was quite funny actually becasue the guy I spoke to (UK call centre thankfully) told me how they had a massive amount of people today having had 4 £1 for 1 month stacked on their accounts. Supposedly a “Glitch” in the system 🙂

Did anyone else just get an additional 800 point reward for renewing xbox live gold?

One addendum to this, I notice in Xbox’s T&Cs that if your chosen payment method is declined then you won’t be able to add any further prepaid codes until it is rectified. So if anyone just disallowed xbox through paypal they might find themselves a bit stuck later on down the line. Best thing to do is just phone up and get them to turn off autorenewal.
