Hmm, never played any of those games, but I’ve heard a lot about Total Annihilation.
Is it worth getting for somebody who hasn’t played it back in the time?
    Did it “age well”?

    • It was an awesome game back then, but imo unless you’ve got the stomach for really old games, you’re best off going with it’s much more modern spiritual successors, Supreme Commander 1 (+ the great expansion) and Supcom 2. Another option if you’re still interested in TA is TA Spring, a free community development of the game that’s still going reasonably strong I believe.

Yeah, that’s what I thought… there are really only a few games old games, that are still playable for people who didn’t play the old ones. Well, thanks! I might get SupCom when it’s on sale somewhere.
I heard, that the second one isn’t that good, or is this just the hardcore fans of the first one bitching?

Supcom 1 is a great game. Supcom 2 is a different game, and quite a disappointment for those of us who where hoping for … well supcom 2. But it is a good game in its own right. So to answer your question. Yes those claiming that supcom 2 is crap is just hardcore fans bitching. Still if you want an experience that is similar to TA, I would go with supcom 1. Excuse my ramblings.
TL;DR : Supcom 2 is good, but supcom 1 has the TA feel.
