Anyone know the DRM used here, or if any games are registerable on Steam?
Cheers,
P.
Anyone know if the games are any good even?
yes any one who has got, please let us know if registerable on steam. A few of those (port royale 2, sacred gold, darkstar one, Space Empires IV Deluxe, jagged alliance 2 gold, Disciples II) are on steam.
I don’t know many of these, can anyone give me a good reason for any of them? Just the one is enough (£8 for one game is a good deal, the rest are bonuses)
Port Royale and Patrician 3 are basically nice trade sims.
Disciples 2 is a nice strategy game, but the hasn’t aged well, imo.
Jagged Alliance 2 is a turn based combat game, like the old X-Coms.
If you don’t have any they should be worth at least 8£ of fun.
Might be worth mentioning in the main post that Strategy First are one of the few digital distributors still trying to charge to redownload your games with their “Download Warranty” BS.
It’s showing up as £54.89 over here — am I missing something, or did the deal expire?
It looks like the games are downloadable once unless you purchase their “warranty” for a few pounds extra.
Can’t speak for any DRM that might be used.
With the coupon?
Derp. Always miss the obvious things. Thanks!
Several well-recognized classics here. Just type titles in Google if you don’t recognize them.
There some classic games there: Jaaged Alliance 2, the Combat Mission games, Space Empires… I just bought it using the cupon. You get 18 emails each one containing a download link. Too bad it seems you cannot re-download them later. I´ll have to make some backups,I suppose 😉
Anyone got any idea what the file sizes are?
Whole pack is about 16 GB worth of games 🙂 Download is running smoothly and takes around 12 hours to complete with supervision (you must manualy start each one of them – I didn´t tried running them simultaneously since you have got one shot). File sizes are from 30MB (Strategic command I) to 4GB (Darkstar One) most are about 500MB. Download links are sent to you by email separately and so you will get about 20 emails, be careful thou because one of those emails ended in my spam while all others were recieved normaly. Games seems to be working.
Strategy First is dodgy in ways that make the Hut Group look like saints. The fact that you have to pay to redownload makes this collection rather appropriately rental priced. But then none of these games are ones you’re going to be completing overnight. So it’s a tough call as to whether it’s worth it or not. It would be an absolute bargain if it wasn’t for where you’d be buying it from.
Man, I thought this was some fancy version of the ACTUAL Take No Prisoners game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_No_Prisoners_%28video_game%29
