Does this also run through Origin as Ubisoft/Uplay games do on Steam?
They’ll just give you a uPlay key I think.
I don’t know if you’ll still read comments on this, but, after installing, UPlay tells me:
“The CD Key or Activation Code is locked to another region. For more information please contact Ubisoft support.”
Any proposed solutions?
I managed to solve it, I did is thus:
1. Download and install the game through Origin.
2. Get to the activation in UPlay and realize your activation code is region locked.
3. Turn off Origin and UPlay.
4. Take one of the free proxys in India from here:

and set it up as your proxy in windows as said here in the first few lines of the question:

(Note: while this is set up, your other internet activities will also be through India, and probably much slower. Luckily, it’s only needed for 2 minutes.)
5. Try to start Far Cry 4 from Origin or your desktop shortcut, and enter the activation code in UPlay. Don’t start the game.
(5b. Enter your activation code for the season pass too, if you got the Gold edition like I did.)
6. Exit Origin and Uplay.
7. Remove the proxy settings from windows in the same place.
8. Launch the game through Origin or UPlay, download the 3 GB day one patch, and enjoy.
I don’t know how Origin or UPlay would reach on me changing countries while they are running, it might not cause problems, but I did it like this to be on the safe side.

Well the news isn’t good I’m afraid. Successfully downloaded from Origin and installed. Then the game opens Uplay and request the key. At this point it says the CD key or Activation code is locked to another region. I’m in the UK so I’m thinking of maybe trying to VPN over to India to unlock or just trying to get my money back. Anybody else managed to get past this yet?

I managed to get it to activate by using the uplay proxy steps and trying every free Indian proxy I could find until one worked.
Single player is playable but all online MP is locked due to an error.
Has anyone got the MP working after activating an Indian copy through a proxy?
If not, You should mention this in the future when you suggest using Hola Lewie.
