Rise of the Micro Studio: Unreal arrogance

I’ll be posting lots of coverage of Develop Conference in Brighton 2010, which I just got home from, over the next few days. But this panel was one of the most interesting of the whole conference for me. It was compered by Will Freeman of Develop Magazine, and the panel was made up of: the highly articulate no matter what he says, Sean Murray from hello games; Captian of the illustrious Introversion, Mark Morris; ambitious newly opened studio, Beatnik‘s Robin Lacey; and rounding it up is Cliffski, the Trekie Uncle of the UK indie scene. Super Mario Galaxy 2 artwork

Seriously? You want to read about Super Mario Galaxy 2 instead of play Super Mario Galaxy 2? You are, quite simply, wasting precious moments of your life that could otherwise be spent enjoying the greatest videogame ever made. Really. Honestly. I promise I’m not just saying that to catch your attention. (more…)

Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive – £42.85 delivered

It was announced, then out of stock, but now it appears to be available. I guess the fact that the new slimmer 360 comes with a 250gb as standard has made the price on these plummet. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are sub £30 at some point in the next few months.

Darwinia and Multiwinia Dev Source, PC – £30

Here’s the info

The complete source code to Darwinia and Multiwinia! Perfect for budding developers, make any modification you can think of and show the world your talent!

The code is distributed via an online subversion repository, where you can not only access the vanilla sources, but also create your own branches to share with other developers. Purchase of this product grants you access to the Darwinia and Multiwinia development forum, where you can discuss mods with other modders.

For those specifically interested in modding Multiwinia, we are running an entirely separate Metaserver for multiplayer testing. Each copy of the Soure Code includes five authentication keys, meaning you can code changes to Multiwinia and test with 4 players and still have a key spare.

Note: You will need Windows and Visual Studio 2008 to build the games. We have tested that the code compiles correctly on the PC, but you will need to put some effort in to compile for Mac / Linux. There is no Xbox code in this release.
