No cockpit cam, no sale. This makes me mad really.
    🙁

      ^ This!

While I don’t mind if arcade racers (like FUEL or the new Most Wanted) don’t offer cockpit views, I think “realistic” racers should provide a decent cockpit view. Bonnet cam simply doesn’t cut it for me (because it’s usually positioned right in the middle of the hood).

Might pick this game up when it’s dead cheap, but not sooner.

Don’t be sad, grid 1 still exists, and the shift games aren’t bad either.

Hell, they might even add them if they realise.

Read their explanation. In-car view was only used by 5% of people and not having to offer one freed up developement time and graphical resources. It’s a trade off and one that seems like a good one to me. Cockpit view for most people amounts to “Oh, cool, looks nice” and then is never used ever again. GTA (not a racing game, I know) has never offered in car view, arcade racers never offered them in the past. GRID is not a simulation aimed at the cardcore car nut who needs ever screw to be modelled in 3D. Getting mad about this is up to you, but at least understand the position you’re in.

There is still bonnet and bumper cam, which is what most people with wheels use anyway.

Try not to overreact over something that is very minor.

Since you brought it up, I just thought I’d mention that I found the (mod-enabled) in-car view in GTA4 made driving in that game much more entertaining.

I honestly would be interested to see a mainstream driving game built specifically with an in-car view in mind and enabled by default. Considering the effort most developers put into their car models, though, this seems unlikely.

Anyway, I’ll chime in with Ezio – I’m not exactly mad, but this omission makes me less inclined to get Grid 2. Oh, well.
