Mon, 04 Oct 2010 07:57:56 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.3.5 By: John http://savygamer.co.uk/2010/09/17/apb-refund-speak-to-the-retailer/#comment-2818 Mon, 04 Oct 2010 07:57:56 +0000 http://savygamer.co.uk/?p=6140#comment-2818 Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support.

I would like to inform you that EA has no relationship with the digital channel “Steam”. Our distribution of APB was limited to specific digital partners. You purchased your game from a retailer that has no relationship with EA for APB. EA has no obligation to provide compensation of any kind. However, if you feel you are entitled to a refund or other entitlement based on the terms and circumstances of your specific purchase, we suggest that you contact “Steam” retailer and your credit card company to determine if a refund, chargeback or other relief is available.

Thank you for contacting the GAME Gamesplanet customer service

In response to your query sent on 22 September 2010, please find below the requested information.

We are very sorry but as you can see in our Terms and Conditions (http://img.metaboli.fr/tc/en/CGV.pdf), we cannot access to your refund request since:

“4.4 – Distributor cancellation & refund policy: Once a Customer downloads and activates a Game, the sale is deemed final, and no returns will be accepted by the Distributor.

Video Games for which the Customer has received downloadable links and/or any serial numbers are non-refundable, whether based on technical failure of the Game, Customer inability to meet requirements to run the Game on the Customer’s computer or lack of enjoyment while playing the Game.

Refunds may be offered if all the following conditions are met:

-The time of the Customer’s request for refund/credit is less than 48 hours since the Service started;

-The Game has not been activated or launched”

We are very sorry for this situation and we understand your disappointement, however we would like to remind you that we are not the game’s publisher. We are a distribution company and we cannot be held responibile for any action taken from another company.
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Laura

It’s still selling there, apparently #5 in the PC chart.: http://eongaming.net/gaming-observations/purple-buffoonery-a-game-shops-tale/

Any offer EA does will be purely for publicity and tbh I think they are distant enough from this shamble not to bother.

I too am curious as to see if people can get the money they paid to the shops back (the MMO credits are gone forever). I agree that people should get a return but arguably they only sell you the game as a consumable with the included time.

Keep up the good work LewieP

Don’t think that’ll apply. Product wasn’t inherently faulty at point of purchase. Reasonable life span clause does have caveats to cover this sort of thing.

Feel for people who bought the game and worked at the company, but I doubt EA will refund retail, so will be interesting to see what happens.

Amazon still haven’t, although it’s now dropped to £11.

Don’t know if I’d be too thrilled with any compo that required me to have EA Download Manager…

I’m surprised EA aren’t stepping in. A bunch of promo codes for EA download manager would give them some good PR.

It does have EA on the box.

It’s always the retailer’s responsibility – they might put up an argument, but you do have the law on your side.
