“Update #2:
Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click ‘View Game Keys’ for the game you should be assigned one.

Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the game.”

I know where it should be in the download games tab it just says it hasn’t been assigned. Wonder if its another civ 5 problem and they ran out of keys.

I downloaded and installed the GfW client but the game is nowhere to be there, so it looks like M$ is pushing me hard to uninstall and forget about this PoS GfW is.

But then they wouldn’t have got all those lovely new credit card details. Or got people into the habit/idea of buying PC games with MS Points.

You can just uninstall the client once you’ve downloaded Age of Empires 3 anyway.

As far as I know.

Steam is still giving it for free:
http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/
http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/
The nvidia offer was tested today and still works, not sure about the ATI one.
On the topic of GFW, anyone tried to order from one of the countries not supported by xbox live?
It seems to require an xbox live account which does not let me enter the real country I live in.

The only way it could really be not worth the 10p is if they then didn’t allow you to download it.

Amen and well said.

I may as well just say this and get it out.

I didn’t buy it, not even for 10P, and here’s why.

At 10P, why not just give it away? They are not possibly making anything on it, why not get people to install the client by giving it away for free.

It may seem like I’m a scrounger not willing to pay 10P for a game, but what kind of scroungers are they that they sell it for that price? It can barely cover the transaction cost.

I’ve actually bought several recommendations from Savy gamer in the last month, especially the EA deal that was going. Battlefield 2 complete collection, Mass Effect 2 and Crysis 2 pre-order.

When GTA 2 was barely 5 years old they released it for free.

I’m not saying that devs should or have to give things away for free, but at 10P who is making any money out of it at all? They’d have got more people onto their service giving it away, like Valve did with Portal and HL2DM.

They’d have done better to say “And day Seven, Age of Empires 3 for free.” and get people onboard

And steam is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than gfwl, microsoft don’t have any chance against valve.
But it’s a great offer, bought it even if i have to reinstall their ugly interface.

Better than when Steam gave Portal away for free? Or when Steam gave HL2:DM away for free?

Not this game in particular although I’m not saying no a 10p but the fact they seem to only region check by bank details so I can buy it with my UK card even though I’m currently in Sweden. I wish all services were so considerate of the needs of traveling customers.

Not effectively free. Effectively 10 MS Points.

But, if you download and install the Games For Windows Marketplace standalone client and log in with the same details, you can successfully buy the game that way.

What the hell, Microsoft?

Although for people who have some Microsoft Funny Money left over from 360 transactions, this game is effectively free.
